Twilight

No spoilers. I'm just not that kind of girl - mostly. I did accidentally give away a major plot point in HP before my brother had read the two preceeding novels.

I did like it, though my neck ached a little from having to sit front row. I do think I will have to see it at least a few more times until I decide which was better, the book or the movie. Usually it's obvious, but right now, with 10 days left in November, I don't really have time to process it. I have to keep working toward my word goal instead!

Happy knitting (if you can - I'm jealous!)

Nanowrimo

It is the third day into November and I am pleased as punch that I have been able to keep up with my word count thus far. I would jump for joy, if I weren't afraid of possibly falling through the floor in this tiny house.

Nanowrimo stands for National Novel Writing Month. Is it really national? I suppose, for those who participate year after year it might seem that way. It's more of an international internet phenomenon. For one month, thirty mere days, writers across the globe (or surface of the Earth, depending if you need to up your word count in every little way possible) try to write a 50,000 word novel. Yes. They are all possibly a bit insane, and definately jittery from all of the caffine consumption. Approach with caution.

This is my second year as a participant; although, Nanowrimo was founded 10 years ago! I did not finish last year. I had very high hopes, but by this time and many words fewer, I had given up. This year, I am far more determined to stick it out through the end. I have put some restrictions on myself, such as finishing the days word count before I'm allowed to knit, play any sort of video game, or watch T.V. I've also given up drinking Starbucks to use as an incentive. If I can make it halfway, I think I deserve some sort of treat!

Just before November 1st, I put together a writing binder. I put a self-made promotional poster for Nanowrimo into the front clear plastic cover. In the back, I've placed a pretty word count calendar. I've marked off each day that has passed, and wrote my final word count (just 1667 words a day). It's really cute, and I'm hoping that it will serve as a reminder and a motivator in the month ahead.

Happy Writing!
