It's been a long time!

2010 was a busy year! There was a friend's wedding, fiber festivals and craft fairs, and a lot of teaching - both knitting and literature. Last spring my sister's best friend got married! I knit her a pair of Kathy's Fingerless Gloves in a crisp white cotton yarn. They were beautiful! She really appreciated them, which was wonderful. I really love that pattern; I think I've knit it four times already in various yarns.

During the spring and summer months I began designing and knitting several sets of fingerless gloves and some cute bath sets to get ready for a couple of small local craft fairs that my mom and I participated in during October and December. I put a few of the fingerless gloves up on my etsy page, but I didn't get any takers on them. During the fair, it was fun to see folks come out on those cold days to take a look around and share in some really great homemade soups that were served for lunch! I remember that it had snowed during the first morning of the December fair. No one was out and about until the afternoon when the town held its annual Holiday Walk. Although it was really chilly, we had a really good time meeting new friends and chatting with people in our community.

My current knitting projects include a pair of fingerless gloves, a pair of socks (Jaywalker), and a lovely warm shawl. I will probably knit a few rows on the gloves today, then photograph some yarn. I am stuck on both the socks and the shawl at the moment. I have to reglue the bamboo tips of my circular sock needles back into their metal holders before I start dropping stitches and possibly crying. For as much as I paid for them, they sure have given me a lot of trouble (spliting, slivers, and now this!) For the shawl, sadly I have run out of yarn with only eight rows to go. Eight rows! I am going to try a new (to me) knitting shop before I call the shop where I purchased the yarn (three states away) and/or message people on Ravelry. I am fairly confident that I'll be able to find someone willing to sell me some, but I am also equally confident that it will take a while to get to my little cottage. Did I mention I only have eight rows left to finish before I can block and wear this thing?! ;D

The end of November

The end of Nanowrimo is within sight! I am behind on my word count by only one day, but I plan to make that up tomorrow. I only need to have a five thousand word day and with alot of plot left to cover and a new idea to be incorporated, I should be able to write that easily tomorrow.

On the knitting front, I found some Patons sock yarn in Cadet Colors that will be perfect for my dad's christmas socks. Hopefully, I won't have to re-knit those a million times, like I had to with my brother's socks.

Welcome to Nanoland!

Today kicks off the start of Nanowrimo (National Novel Writing Month) and we were lucky enough to get an extra hour of writing this year. I took advantage of that... slightly.

I did stay up last night to start writing when the clock struck twelve. I don't normally write at night. I don't really like it. I like being lazy and watching t.v., knitting, or sleeping at that hour. But I wrote anyway, because I was determined to get my novel onto the page as soon as I could! I spent about an hour and a half writing, and only ended up with 669 words. I can write much faster than that. I know I can, because I have.

I am seriously thinking about buy the desktop version of Write or Die. I love that program and my internet cable doesn't stretch all of the way into the bedroom so that I can hook my netbook up to it.

Needless to say, I gave up at about one-thirty. What can I say? I guess I'm a nano-lightweight? I woke up this morning, got dressed and went out for Sunday morning bowling. Since I, being female, do not bowl on that league, I brought out my netbook and got my word count up to about 1000. Not great, but a better start and it still wasn't noon.

When I got home, I sat down and opened up Write or Die (note: I'll probably be mentioning that a lot, as it is a word-count-life-saver). I managed to eke out 300 words in 20 minutes, even writing as slowly as I did. I had my settings at 200/20min. just incase. I probably could have done more writing exercises before November hit, but whatever, I had to try and make a go at knitting socks last month.

I have less than 400 words to write in order to complete my daily goal, but I would like to hit at least 2000 today. I am heading off to a kick-off party/write-in in a little bit. I don't have high expectations and I'm maybe slightly freaking out about meeting new people, but it's being held at a familiar location... and I have a fourty percent off coupon and cash from dog sitting, so I should be okay, right?

Has anyone else been to a write-in? This will be my first. I managed to make it through 50k last year all on my own. I don't mind adopting the ways of a hermit - hiding in a cave, living off the land, and secluding myself from the influences of the outside world. Except that none of that is true. I mean, the internet counts as the "outside world," ya?

Socktoberfest is Almost Over!

It feels like a long time since I last updated - months instead of weeks. I've been getting in as much knitting as possible in October. I am not quite finished with my sister's socks, but I have started on my brother's socks. Knitting with the size 0 metal needles was starting to hurt one of my hands, or more specifically, my left index finger. Not only was I forming a callous on it, but somehow I managed to break through the first layer of skin while not paying attention to what I was doing. Oops! Switching to my (new) bamboo size 2's helped alot!



Unfortunately, I have not been getting a lot of writing in this week. Grrr. I wanted to be finished with the first novel edits before I started the second novel in November. It also looks like I'll be working a lot this week (yay!) and might not have the time. I am really glad that the first of November starts on Sunday this year. I would like to stay up and start writing at midnight, but I don't know if I'll be able to focus on writing at that hour. My favorite time to write is late morning/early afternoon. That was when I seemed to get the bulk of my novel written last year.

I did get to go to YarnCon this year due to fortunate work scheduling falling perfectly into place (in my favor). My sister and I had a lot of fun. We drove to the Pulaski Park Fieldhouse and managed to find a parking spot on the next block. Due my sister's GPS being set to "shortest distance," however it took us twice as long to get there. We did have plenty of time to first peruse and then buy!



As I said, I found some inexpensive bamboo circulars (size 2) that I am now using on my brother's socks. I wish I had gotten more! I also bought some mermaid-y colored yarns from the destash table and some gorgeous hand-painted sock yarn. I love the new sock bags I bought. One has a cute lamb, the other, coffee cups and beans inside. I was also able to get in some knitting, while we ate lunch. I'm now three rows from completing my Oliver Twist scarf, and when I buy another ball of yarn (since I ran out that day) I will finish it and probably make a mug/cup cozy to go with it.



I'm looking forward to November. I'm not sure if I'll have enough energy to write here. If not, then happy knitting until December!

Day Whatever.

I did not knit socks today.

Instead, I read Miki Falls. All four books in the series. And it was sooooo good!

Yarncon is coming up soon. For some reason, I thought it was tomorrow, but it is on the 17th instead. No matter, though, I have both Saturdays off from work. Can I afford it? No, probably not. Do I care? No, probably not. I am so there.

I really don't know what else to say today.



It was mostly just a day spent reading quietly and hanging out with the dogs and cats. I didn't get any writing done, I didn't do any laundry, and the dishes are still hanging out on the dirty side of the sink. I was dreading the few hours of work, work I had, but that ended up being nothing at all. Still, somehow I feel as though I've accomplished something.

Why, if I check the stay logged in box, does it not stay logged in? Ahem. Blogger?

I have not gotten to any sock knitting since Saturday! What?! Even I think that's ridiculous. I have been working on a commisioned pair of fingerless gloves. They really haven't taken a long time, but I'm missing two dpns from the set I need. Where are they?! I've been pretty good, so far, keeping track of all those little buggers and now I'm missing the two that I need. I wonder if they're still stuck in a project in my bag. *crosses fingers*

I found out that one of my co-workers has cancer. That is so weird to type. So, I'm making her a magic ball of yarn to help cheer her up a fraction of a percent and so that she can knit while convalescing. Very timely, as she had just said maybe she should start knitting again.... I'm really not a mind-reader. Promise.

Finally, it's the beginning of October and the Nanowrimo site is up and running. And I am getting way more excited about November than I am about October. Must knit more socks!

Day 3

No new pictures today. Sorry. By the time I remembered (five minutes ago), the sun was already set and the lighting is all weird at night. It's either too dark without the flash or too bright in spots with the flash.

Anyway, I went to my first craft fair today in town. And by went, I meant went as a vendor! Beside the fact that I was completely tired and had a headache the whole time, I had a lot of fun. My mom and I went in with a table together. I sold almost all of the coffee cup cozies that I had made, a pair of fingerless gloves and a few other little odds and ends. We'll be back for round two tomorrow.

While I sat and chit-chatted with my mom, the other vendors, and customers, I worked on my sister's socks. I am nearing the end of the first sock. For some reason, I thought that they would take me a lot longer to knit, but I guess I shouldn't have been surprised. I mean, I am skipping the "difficult" parts (toes and heels). If I have enough yarn left over, which I suspect that I will, I will knit her a pair of Kathy's fingerless gloves.



They'll look really cute in the dark pink yarn.

I'm not sure if I'll continue on the socks tomorrow. I have a lady interested in commisioning another pair of fingerless gloves for her daughter. I might just bring my dpns to work on those. Plus, my sister might show up tomorrow. I can't knit her socks in front of her. ;D

Day Two

It's noon on day two of Socktoberfest and I'm still sitting at my computer in my pajamas. I feel kinda gross. I woke up at 8:30 this morning, because I was bribed with an egg mcmuffin. I just haven't felt like moving out of my chair. I can hardly help that, it's so comfy! Instead of getting up and actually accomplishing something, like washing the dishes or taking a shower, I watched some 5AG videos and worked on my sister's socks.



I like this picture, because it makes them look a lot further along than they actually are. I've probably only finished about 2 1/2 inches on the first sock, but I wouldn't know for sure, since I left my little lamb tape measure at my mom's house the other night. I don't know what happened. I thought I tucked it into my bag, but appearently, I didn't. Fail.

At least my sister found it before her dog did. The minute Lexi saw it, she was ready to tear it out of my hand and nip at its cute little tail. Poor, Lamby. Here's a picture of my cat:



She is either trying to get her daddy's attention, or a turn at playing WoW. I'm not sure. She's kinda strange, but cute.

Start of Socktoberfest

I woke up early for work this morning. It was chilly outside, reminisent of late fall, but the leaves are just starting to change from green to burnished gold. I started my Socktoberfest by winding a ball of Shepard Sock yarn that I had purchased at Stitches Midwest. It is a beautiful shade of dark pink and it will make a lovely pair of Yoga Socks for my sister.

I cast on sixty-four sitches during my lunch break and started in on the two-by-two ribbing for one of the cuffs. After the ribbing section, I plan to use the lace pattern from the Dead Simple Lace Socks. Since they'll be Yoga Socks, they will be missing their toes and heels. Hopefully, they don't take me nearly as long to knit as my last pair of socks did.



I finished up my Hearts and Flowers Socks in late September. It took me a month and a half to finish the first sock and five days to finish the second one. Forget about second sock syndrome, I think my problem is figuring out the patterns. After that, knitting them is a breeze.

Both the Dead Simple Lace Socks and the Hearts and Flowers Socks can be found in the Socks from the Toe Up book by Wendy D. Johnson. I haven't decided what I'll knit after my sisters socks, but I do have more sock yarn in my stash waiting to be knit!

Literary Aspirations

Not about the book. Sorry! Actually, I just finished writing, drawing, and inking my first zine. I've been playing around with the idea of creating a zine for quite sometime now, but I never actually put thought into motion until today.



It's called Knit Zine, and it is a small publication containing thoughts about color choices for this fall, a pattern for a pair of super simple fingerless gloves, along with a few extra features.

I will be selling hand knit items at a craft show in my area and I thought I'd put a few of these out on the table. I'm not sure how well they'll sell, but I probably won't produce that many for the first batch and give quite a few away just to get word out. They'll be worth a dollar and I think that's fair including a pattern, right?

I finished my Daphne purse from Louisa Harding's "Knitting Little Luxuries." I forgot to add my magnetic snap before adding my lining, but the purse is deep enough to do without it. It's knit with Peaches n' Cream natural and the flowers are done in some pretty blue gellato that I had left over from my lace skirt.

I'm also working on the Hearts and Flowers Socks, by Wendy Johnson. They're toe-up socks (knit from the toes to the cuffs) and they're really cute! I have been working on them for a month and a half, which seems like a long time, but it is the first time I've knit lace socks with a slip stitch heel.

Other than that, the day has been pretty quiet. We've had a bit of rain and the dogs have been napping. I'm looking forward to finishing one of the socks tonight and possibly watching a movie.

The Harry Potter Exhibit

I took the day off of work today and went to Chicago with my sister, mom, and a friend to see the Harry Potter exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry. It was so awesome and we had a lot of fun! Unfortunately, you are not allowed to take pictures in the actual exhibit, but we did get a few shots next to the Ford Anglia at the front of the museum, as well as some while we stood near various posters that hung throughout the museum.

We paid extra for the audio tour and it was worth it, because you get a few extra insights as to why they chose certain props or costume designs for the characters. They had a lot of props from various movies, as well as, costumes for Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, and most of the professors. The amount of pink in Umbridge's costume was insane (but her kitty plates were cute)!

My favorite prop was Ron's knit blanket that was on his bed during a few of the movies. I so want to knit that. The scariest prop was probably the dementor that was kind of hanging from the ceiling/flying. They had great air circulation in the tent that made the robes flutter and it was just plain creepy. My sister and I watched one little boy pass by with his "big" sister. She held her arm around him, while he watched the floor where he walked and covered his eyes with both hands. He was so scared!

All in all, the exhibit was pretty amazing and I would definitely recommend going to see it if it comes to a city near you. It will be in Chicago until mid-September, then moving to Boston for the fall.

PS. Girls, the docents are not actors, they're really all brits. Natch!

Tons of Pictures Update

I started a pair of "Hearts and Flowers Socks" from Socks from the Toe Up, by Wendy Johnson. Uhhnnnnn. I realized when I started them that my needle size was 2 when they called for 0. I hit gauge! 8 stitches per inch! Why are these socks so big?!

I have only knit one toe and one pattern chart, so it's not like I'm any where near finishing the socks and just now realizing that they are too big. I would probably finish them and give them to my mom, if that were the case. Unfortunately, I'm broke. So, it's not like I can go out and spend money on two pairs of size 0 circular needles; even though, I totally want to! Plus, the yarn shop closes at 4 p.m.

I never got to talk about my Sunday at the Midwest Fiber Festival or my awesome adventure to Chicago last week Thursday, so I'm going to do that now.

Part Two:

Sunday, my mom and I went to the final fair day. We could have used a lot more time! We did not see everyone's booths, but we did get a peek at the alpacas and pet some awesome skeins of yarn and projects. I bought a drop spindle from Sistermaide and it is pretty. I wasn't going to buy any roving, because I have some from Yarncon last October, but then I did. Unfortunately, I can't remember who I bought the roving from! I won't be getting it until Christmas, along with three other hanks of yarn, and I think the tags are with them. I don't even have pictures, but trust me, they're gorgeous! The roving is full of greens and blues and purples. Very mermaid-chic. Two hanks of yarn are red and are intended for a super duper lace shall. The other hank is of the blue(?) variety and is also intended for a lace shall (for my mom!). I lurve my mum, so she gets lots of knitty things. And it helps that she kind of buys me yarn to feed my addiction. :P

I also bought a fingerless glove kit from Wool, Warp & Wheel. And I knit those last week, but it's too hot to wear them.



Oh, and the other thing I bought was a knitting bag. It's just a cloth bag for small projects, like socks (yeah, like the socks I'm knitting now, but they are too big). The bag was stitched by Lorel. It is so pretty! And I'm kind of toting it around with me everywhere.



We had a fantastic time. I was really glad that my mom was able to go with me on Sunday, not that my boyfriend wasn't fun, but my mom definitely appriciated it more.

Part Three:

I don't really want to make this post too long. I'm just going to talk briefly about my Thursday and then maybe post more details later? I don't know. Thursday, John Green spoke at a library in Chicago and I was there.

Like the Princess Spa mask (for Meg Cabot's Princess Diaries 10 release) I knit something for John, too. Not a spa mask though, because that is way too girly and he needed something nerdtastic. I knit him a scarf instead. It looks a little bit like it could be a slytherin scarf, but it is green and white striped. At each end of the scarf I grafted John and Hank's cartooned faces. It turned out pretty fantastic.



John wore it in this video, which was pretty jokes. I gave it to him when I went up to get my copies of An Abundance of Katherines and Paper Towns autographed. And he asked twice if it was really for him. Of course! Unfortuneately that also meant I distracted him and I only got a best wishes! but no JScribbles in my Paper Towns. Oh well! He'll just have to come back to Chicago, right?

Saturday!

Today's post comes in two parts. I have had a fantastic day, and I'm excited that the day is only halfway over. I have got plenty of time to do the dishes and clean up around the house, or just sit and watch t.v.

Part One:
The first thing I'll talk about is the Midwest Fiber and Folk Art Fair Festival. Honestly, I can't say that name out loud without bungling it. I always want to put the Folk before the Fiber. It kicked off yesterday and will continue on until Sunday. I wasn't sure if I was going to go today. My mom and I planned on going Sunday, since her schedule was full for today, and there wasn't anyone else around to go with me. Or so I thought.

I woke up this morning to beautiful sunshine and thought, "Who cares if I have to go by myself!" Apparently, all I need is a sunny day to really get my confidence up. As it turned out, my bf offered to go with me. :O I was shocked, too, believe me. I bought lunch and drove, so the only thing he was responsible for was keeping up with me.

We saw a lot of ladies knitting and spinning, lovely lovely fiber and yarn, and those cute alpacas in the tent outside. I bought a beautiful handwoven lap blanket for a more than reasonible price from Bleating Heart Haven's stall. I plan on looking at a few pattern books tonight and choosing some yarn tomorrow at the fair.

We did not spend too much time there, but I never once had to elbow my bf or tell him to be nice. For someone who doesn't get 'yarn addiction' or particularly like getting warm knit gifts, he behaved himself very well. And that made me happy!

Part Two:
I wanted to talk a little bit about the scarf I am knitting. The concept of it has been brewing for quite sometime. It's interesting where ideas come from and how they manage to wriggle themselves out of the brain and into the knit.

I started watching the vlogbrothers channel on YouTube around February of this year. A few years ago John and Hank Green, two brothers living across the country from one another, decided to forgo any textual communication for one year. Hilarity ensued and from that I translated it into scarf form.

Starting two days ago, I am about halfway finished with it; though, considering the ends will take longer to knit than most of the scarf, I guess I could count that as more than halfway finished.

I tried using microrevolt to graph my images, but in the end I just printed off the picture, drew a grid on it in pencil, then judged everything by eye while I knit it. I wouldn't recommend it with a more complicated pattern, but whatever works, right?

Movies, Books, Knit Books, and more Books

I went to see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince last night/this morning. It was amazing and I was going to write up a whole post about it and its awesomeness, but I've been awake and thinking about it all day and I'm at that point where I just want to go watch Driving Lessons and take a nap.

So, I'll skip that and talk about my rocking new clutch instead. It is the Monsterous Book of Monsters in knit form. I know. How awesome is that?! I have yet to add the teeth on it, but I had to take it with me to the theater last night. I suppose if you wanted to make a pillow/plushie out of it, you would only need to sew up both sides of the front flap. If I keep it as a clutch, I think I will add a fabric lining to it.

Dog sitting and opera at Ravinia tomorrow. I will probably fall asleep. And I should definitely put on bug spray if it is as warm tomorrow as it was last night. Is it finally summer? Nice!

And in other news, bookish news, YA author John Green is coming to a city near... me! And I found out about it before the date passed. Woohoo!

July Update

It's been a while since I updated, so I guess I'd better! Not that the world really depends upon it, but you know, it might.

July is shaping up to be a busy month between participating in Julnowrimo to events, such as Ravinia and the Mid-West Fiber Fair. To be perfectly honest, I know that I will not be completing a 50,000 word document this July. My goal is to complete the first draft of a twelve chapter manuscript. I'm still on chapter one. :P

As for knitting, I plan on seaming the sides of my lining for my Daphne Purse today. I've got the material cut and bought a spool of white thread (why isn't this finished, yet?). I've also ironed on the interfacing to the handles, so they're ready to be tacked down.

And!!! I'm almost finished with the socks I started for my mom. They're ready to be bound-off and have their ends tucked in. The Serenity sock yarn is so soft and lovely to work with. I might cast-on my next pair of socks soon, though I really, really should finish a few other projects first (like the Daphne Purse)!

Summer, finally!

The last week or so I have been cranking out projects. I finished a cupcake pin cushion, a knit bikini top, almost a dozen recycled envelopes, and new tags for a few items I plan to sell. I have also been watching tons of diy videos on You Tube, especially those from Threadbangers. They have a really nice format, simple to follow instructions, and interesting projects that include knit, crochet, and sewing. I am not that awsome at sewing, which is one of the reasons why I still haven't finished the inside of my daphne purse. I really have to get going on that, since I totally want to use the purse in July!



I picked up some really cute doggy t-shirts over at Hobby Lobby. I got a black, a red, and a pink one. My male toy poodle likes the color pink (weird I know, but he just always seems to be attracted to things that are pink, maybe he's part bee), so I got him the pink t-shirt. I want to paint "Real men wear pink" on it in black paint, just because it would be hilarious.


He might also be part cat....

Other than that, I'm possibly planning to Julnowrimo. And, yay! I just checked the site and it is back up and running. I checked yesterday and it was still down. Now I just have to decide which novel I'll be writting next, the by-the-sea-romance or the time-travel-adventure. Both take place in the summer, so I'll have plenty of good weather (finally!!!) to help with my creativity!

Wwkipd

Saturday was wwkipd, which basically stands for world wide knit in public day. There were big get togethers and small gatherings of knitters doing what they do best out in view of the public. Now, normally I take something to work on pretty much everywhere. I especially love it when the bf drives, and we'll be in the car for a while, because I can get some more knitting time in. So, was I out knitting yesterday?

No!

I was hoping for lovely weather on Saturday. If it was nice out I planned on going down town, but I woke up to a drizzling rain that seemed to last all morning. I did not want to go out and sit in the rain to work on a pair of wool socks. Yuck. Of course, I completely missed some posts on Ravelry about where everyone was meeting should the weather turn out to be less than ideal knitting conditions. Blah. I could have gone!

As the day wore on, however, the weather cleared up. Heavy clouds passed occassionally and threatened rain, but it never happened. At about 2 p.m. I'd had enough of staying indoors, so I made the bf take me and the puppies out to the park. We grabbed some lunch, stopped at Panera for a plain bagel (for the dogs) and went to the park for a picnic and a walk. It was very pleasant and though I did knit in the car, I hardly count that as being within the public view.

So, that pretty much sums up my second annual world-wide-not-knitting-in-public-day-even-though-we-and-by-we-I-mean-I-should-have-been-knitting-in-public-day. There's always next year, right?

Knitting and reading

Oh, will this dreary weather ever end? Seriously, it is June, isn't it? This coming Saturday is World Wide Knit in Public Day. I really wanted to go downtown and sit in the park and knit, but not if the weather is like this! If it is like this, you'll most likely see me holed up in a Starbucks instead, at least for a little while.

I completed several more rows on my double-cabled scarf today. I am hoping to get through this one skein before this weekend. I want to start on a new pair of socks, but I want to use my knitting bag for them, and of course I can't since I threaded the scarf yarn through the bag. I will not do the same for the sock yarn, since I will be trying to make a pair on circular needles. If I follow the instructions correctly, I should be alright, but who knows, I might end up tangled and I do not want to pull out then rewind an entire skein of yarn if it happens.

Other than knitting, I finishing reading Pants on Fire, aka Tommy Sullivan is a Freak. Gosh it feels good to get through a book in less than two days. It was a pretty good book. The main character, Katie, was pretty relateable. Who doesn't tell a white lie every now and then? Even though she was totally cheating on her cute, jock boyfriend with the hot drama geek. Then, of course, Tommy Sullivan showed up....

I have to admit that among all of the love interests in Meg Cabot's book, Tommy Sullivan did not have it going on. I mean, sure she described how out of this world gorgeous his changing amber eyes were in different lights, and then there were those rock solid bicepts he had developed from the four years he spent in military school, but he had red hair! I totally kept picturing scrawny, 80's Eric Stolz the entire book. Which is way weird, I know.

I took that book back to the library and checked out Wicked Lovely,Peeps,and Devilish. It might be a bit difficult to choose what to read next, since they all seem really good. With any luck, Eric Stoltz won't be making an appearance in any of them.

Random Day

Today has been another one of those blah days, but at least I got a few things accomplished today.

No knitting or crocheting cute food items today. I tried though. I started knitting a cherry, but once I started attaching the stem, I realized it just wasn't going to work out. Let's just say the cherry was more eliptical shaped than round. I gave up after one attempt.

I did find a link to the documentary, We Are Wizards, from Harry and the Potters myspace (Link). I enjoyed some parts of it immensely, while others I wished were different, shorter segments, or otherwise arranged differently. Overall it was some good viewing.

The other thing that I did today, despite having a massive headache and not really wanting to do anything, was some more editing. Woohoo! I got through two chapters, which doesn't seem like a lot, but when I haven't worked on it in about two months.... Yeah.

I also read the first six chapters of Pants on Fire, by Meg Cabot. I love her books and I don't care who knows it! Why? Because reading is awesome.

Work tomorrow, long weekend over. I need to make some more summer to do lists soon.
