Twilight

I watched Penelope this weekend, since I totally love that movie. It contained the trailer to the movie 'Twilight' that is coming to theaters in December. I was very excited, but I hadn't yet touched the book. A few of my students had said it was good, I guess I'm always a bit slow to catch on, but then, maybe it is just delaying the satisfaction of reading, or rather devouring a book. I swear I am such a manic reader when I get my hands on something really tastey.

I found a coupon. In my e-mail. Thank you Barnes&Noble. I snatched my sister away from the pool to go out shopping. Book shopping. Exhale. It was hot and sunny and the books smelled really good in the air-conditioned store. We had frappachinos and laughed, but it wasn't until the following day that I actually cracked the cover of the book. I was still hanging on, waiting, determined that I not start reading until my break at work, of which I would have four glorious hours to read. I had another frappachino. I had to step out of the air-conditioning. I laughed out loud and hoped I wasn't bothering anyone standing outside of my... not really sure what to call it... sphere, my reading sphere, the place I am when I read, completely encompassed, completely enamoured.

Anyway, it is twenty-three hours past the time I began reading. The book rests gently on the edge of the computer desk, a black ribbon I used for a bookmark hanging from page four hundred ninety-eight. If you know. If you have any sense, then I don't need to tell you how it was. I don't need to outline plots, explain the setting, or give brief character descriptions. You've either read it, you're reading it, or you will or you won't. The only thing I understand is this: I need to go buy the next book. Coupon or no coupon.
